WHAT WE'VE DONE
Silas Bolef Company actively participates in the
contractor and union apprenticeship program.
The IBEW Local Union Joint Apprenticeship Trust Funds exist solely to provide
education and training through apprenticeships. It is under the control of its
trustees who represent the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW and National Electrical Contractors Association, NECA. The IBEW and NECA
have the fundamental belief that all industry has the duty and responsibility to
provide education and training to its workforce.
IBEW registered apprenticeship programs provide students with a five year
educational program consisting of over 200 hours of classroom instruction and
2,000 hours of on-the-job training per year. At the conclusion of the five year
apprenticeship, students have received in excess of 1,000 hours of classroom
instruction and 10,000 hours of on-the-job training.
Instruction is provided by knowledgeable and
experienced certified teachers. The
school has well-equipped classrooms and labs designed and built
specifically for instrumentation, BISCI certified telecommunications, conduit
bending, circuit testing, motor control and many other disciplines.
The curriculum includes:

●AC/DC Theory, Transformers, and Applications
●Motors, Motor Controls, and Instrumentation
●Programmable Logic Controllers and Variable Frequency Drives
●Electrical Power and Solar Power Systems
●Energy and Lighting Systems
●Conduit Fabrication, Blueprints,
Test Instrument Applications, Semiconductors
●Code Calculations, Lightning Protection
●Digital Electronics, Building Automation
●Fire Alarm, Security, Structured Cabling Systems
●Power Quality, Distributed Generation
●Health Care Applications
●OSHA and First Aid, CPR certifications
The school also offers many courses for journeyman continuing education.
